We didn’t start M and M Suit Shop because we wanted to run a business.
We started it because one of us couldn’t find a wedding suit that felt right.
When I got engaged, I knew I wanted to walk down the aisle in a suit. What I did not know was how hard that would be.
I started looking for a custom white wedding suit made for women. What I found was almost nothing. The few options that existed were out of state and far beyond what I could afford. So I did what so many of us do. I went to a men’s tailor.
They told me they could make it work. In reality, they took a boxy men’s pattern and tried to force it onto my body. I picked my fabric. I got measured. I waited.
A month later, my mom flew in to see my wedding suit for the first time. When I stepped out of the fitting room, everything was wrong.
The fabric was heavy and brown instead of white.
The fit was off everywhere.
It did not feel like me.
What should have been a joyful moment became the start of months of stress.
Over the next three and a half months, I went back again and again. Weekend after weekend. Alterations, tweaks, arguments about how a suit for a woman should fit. I kept being told that what I wanted was unreasonable.
By the time my wedding came, I was not dreaming of looking beautiful anymore. I just wanted to feel secure enough to walk down the aisle.
When I told Morgan what had happened, she was devastated. Her own wedding dress experience had been thoughtful, affirming, and full of care. We could not understand why that same care did not exist for people who wanted to wear suits.
So we started asking around.
And we realized this was not just my story. It was everywhere.
Women, lesbians, and nonbinary people were being asked to settle for clothing that did not fit their bodies, their identities, or their moments.
So we decided to build what we could not find.
That decision became M and M Suit Shop.

Today, we create custom wedding suits for women and AFAB nonbinary clients who want something more than close enough. Our studio is built on care, collaboration, and clothing that actually fits the person wearing it.
